DAWN OF THE DRYAD

~~~
Juniper, between my lips
Blackthorn circling my crown
Anchored hands, tangled branches
How long have I slept?
Yarrow blooms in ancient wounds
Sun burns dew upon the stone
Stretching limbs, cracking carapace
So I grow again
In the light, I stretch my leaves wide
Reaching for what dreams remain
Pushing ash from my shoulders
Dry earth welcoming the rain....
Buried deep, in these roots I weep
Hillsides shifting like the sand
Is this home, or is it shadowed bone
Begging the dawn to understand
Spiderweb, lead me from my rest
Trace me gold against the grey
Lightly step, courage fresh and wet
Thus called, I dance free
In the light, I shut my eyes tight
Drink deep what little sun remains
Has it been so long since the green was gone?
I wish to dream again....
I wish to dream again....
Dogwood Seattle, Washington
Hailing from the hedge and loam of Seattle's undergrowth, this chimerical songbird aims to weave historical and wax hysterical in the old-new traditions of mountain men, shantymen, and their fellow men as they tromp and twirl acro'st both ancient myth and accidental malady. This mighty troubadour delights in bringing life to the voices of the past, so come and share a pomegranate seed or two! ... more
